Book Review + Teasers: KISS THE SKY by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Nth Reread: October 2015

Gahhhhhhhhh no matter how many times i reread this book, i still find it hot and sexy and mentally stimulating and I fell in love with the characters all over again. Truly, no words can ever described how I feel right now. My mind is still reeling from all the things that happened. It's like i marathon-ed a full season of a TV show! Love love love love loooooooooveeeee KB's writing!!

I have a full review written and published at Musings of the Book-a-holic Fairies, Inc blog. And I'm going to re-post said review here. Enjoy!

SYNOPSIS

Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass … Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed. Reality TV, be prepared.

Rose Calloway thought she had everything under control. At twenty-three, she’s a Princeton graduate, an Academic Bowl champion, a fashion designer and the daughter of a Fortune 500 mogul. But with a sex addict as a sister and roommate, nothing comes easy.

After accepting help from a producer, Rose agrees to have her life filmed for a reality television show. The Hollywood exec is her last chance to revive her struggling fashion line, and boundaries begin to blur as she’s forced to make nice with a man who always has his way.

Twenty-four-year-old Connor Cobalt is a guy who bulldozes weak men. He’s confident, smart-as-hell and lives with his equally ambitious girlfriend, Rose Calloway. Connor has to find a way to protect Rose without ruining the show. Or else the producer will get what Connor has always wanted—Rose’s virginity.

This New Adult Romance can be described as Friends meets The Real World. Expect fist fights, drugs, sex of varying degrees, crude humor and competitive alpha males. Definitely for mature readers audiences only.

MAUVE FAIRY'S REVIEW

"Get ready, darling. This may spin your head."

Oh Connor, you sexy beast!! That sentence was so applicable on what I had experienced in reading this I-didnt-expect-this-to-be-so-so-good book of yours! It literally spun my head, with all the OMG-this-shit-isnt-happening-is-it? scenes, the flirty banters between you and Rose, the bickering and banters of the gang, the whew-I-need-to-fan-myself/need-a-change-of-panties scenes and so so much more!!!

OK, I AM the queen of procrastination but it’s better late than never right? Coz it took me a year and 2 months before I’m able to write this review, that’s why!! Yes, I know, pathetic! But hey, I didn't say I am perfect. It took me three re-reads and the release of its most-anticipated sequel for me to finally gather my thoughts and write these down on paper (well, in reality type this on computer LOL). I could just ignore and shrug my shoulders and say “Why the hell do I care if I write this review or not?” As a glorified Fizzle Force member and a loyal KB fan, this is a mortal sin and a blasphemy!!

Richard Connor Cobalt is the narcissistic friend of Lily and Lo who first appeared in Addicted to You, the first book in the highly acclaimed Addicted Series. He was Lily’s tutor first in Econ and later on, as Rose’s, Lily’s older sister, first boyfriend. He is just a side character and was not meant to be explored. I am so, so happy that KB decided to write a book about Connor and Rose because their story is one of a kind. LILO (ship name of Lily and Lo) described him as asexual and he rarely shows his emotions. He is super smart as in S-M-A-R-T. His confidence is his weapon. He can diffuse a raging storm (aka explosive situations) and everyone calms down. It doesn't hurt that he is super rich, as in his mother owns a multi-billion dollar company that would someday be passed on to him. He is a graduate of an Ivy League school, and has his own limo and chauffeur.

He wears confidence like his most expensive suit, with style and dignity and so much charm.

I can calm the most restless soul if I choose to, and it’s not because I’m gifted with some inane supernatural ability.
My power is in my confidence.
It’s that simple.

But in here, I've seen sides of Connor that was not seen before. He is not just a rich kid splurging his trust fund left and right. He has shown some depth and his character may not need some growth but his way of thinking and feelings about some things had definitely seen some “growth” and change when he became friends with Lo, Lily, Ryke and Daisy and been a part of a “family”. How he grew up with only his mother as a parent has a large part on how he is with the people he meets as explained in the earlier part of the book.

His bedroom preferences took me by surprise!! Hmmm a man who is a master in a bedroom but not truly a dominant? To say that he can light a fire just by delivering his lines is an understatement. He just needs to speak in French and my panties would melt! awwww all those French things he whispers to Rose gahhhhhhh Plus, his bedroom tactics are not conventional which will leave you panting and out of breath!

His lines OMG his lines!!!! One of the best lines I tell you!! He never curses, he is always calm and will deliver his lines without emotion but always with a punch. But the underlying feelings behind those words most especially when he is speaking with Rose or bantering with Lo are pure gold!!

People hope to touch the sky. I dream of kissing it.

“Je suis passionnĂ© de toi,” I say. I am passionate about you.

“You’ll come before I fill every inch of you.”

“Twenty-four years smarter than you.”

“You’re not a pit stop. You’re my finish line. There’s no one after you.”

“I want you for eternity, not for a brief moment in time.”

“Darling, if anyone is going to be tied up,” I say, my hand descending towards her ass, “c’est toi.” It’s you.

“You and me,” he says and licks his lips. “ We fuck like winners.”

Rose Calloway is an intelligent woman who never cowers to anybody even her own mother. Though she may be a bit intimidating and scary, she loves fiercely as displayed by her concerns for her younger sisters. She is her own person. She curses when she feels like it but is a fashionable lady in every sense of the word. She owns her own company, a daughter of a soda mogul, also a graduate of an Ivy League school on top of her class. And surprise surprise!! A virgin and not ashamed by it!

Together, Connor and Rose are an imposing couple. They are the leader and the strength of their group. Everyone listens to them and goes to them when they need advice. Together, they seem to defy the odds to be in their favor but sometimes, life has other things on its mind. They are not susceptible to troubles and failures. But together, their journey towards their happy ever after is astounding, monumental, profound but beautiful and oh so so wonderful and exquisite.

Truly, this book is one of the most delightful books to read. It has the right ingredients fitting for a gourmet meal and you will be left satisfied and full and yet has the need to devour once again. Friendships, sisterly love, bromances, and epic love stories abounds. This is one of the best books in the series and though this can be read first without reading the other addicted books, I would strongly suggest that you read the others too. Awesomazing and fantabolously written by the amazing twin duo, this series is justly revered and loved by its followers and fans.
